THE CHALLENGE
LSBio had outgrown its legacy monolithic C# website, which kept content management, product data, search, and transactions tied together in one codebase. With more than 1.5 million purchasable items served from a relational database not designed for modern discovery, every change was slow and every search, category route, and facet was constrained by the same rigid structure.
For researchers, discovery is the purchase path: they arrive with specific targets, species, applications, and validation requirements and need to quickly narrow a massive catalog to the reagents that fit their experiment. LSBio needed a platform that could make that catalog findable in under a second, separate content and commerce from product information, integrate cleanly with their ERP, and support future B2B, international, and personalization growth without another replatform.
THE BRAND
LifeSpan BioSciences, known in the market as LSBio, is a life science reagent company serving academic, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and biotech researchers worldwide. With more than 20 years of expertise in antibody production, validation, and immunohistochemistry, LSBio is recognized as a leader in IHC validation and maintains one of the most comprehensive antibody libraries available anywhere.
THE SOLUTION
OneMagnify replatformed LSBio.com to a Hybrid Digital Experience Platform, replacing the legacy monolith with a scalable, modern, and extensible ecosystem. Content management, commerce, discovery, product information, integration, and ERP were separated into specialized platforms, then unified behind a single customer experience layer. The full build, from design through launch readiness, was completed in four months.
Every architectural decision was made to serve three outcomes: make an enormous catalog genuinely searchable, give the LSBio team control over content and product data without developer dependency, and build a foundation that expands rather than one that gets replaced.
Search Built the Site, Not the Database
The most consequential decision on the project was to reject a lift-and-shift. Rather than migrating the existing catalog structure as-is and layering a new front end on top of it, OneMagnify re-architected product discovery around OpenSearch and made the search index the backbone of the storefront.
Category routing, faceted navigation, and product discovery across 1.5 million-plus SKUs are all driven by a purpose-built search layer instead of database queries. That inversion is what makes the catalog usable: a researcher can enter a target and narrow by host, application, reactivity, and validation status against a live index rather than waiting on a relational lookup. The experience layer is delivered on a modern React and Next.js frontend, so the interface can evolve independently of the systems feeding it.
A MACH-Powered Hybrid DXP, Not a Monolith
Optimizely CMS was deployed for content management and the marketing experience, and Optimizely Commerce for cart, checkout, customer accounts, orders, and promotions. Between those systems and the storefront sits a Backend-for-Frontend layer that aggregates and orchestrates data across every backend service, so the React application consumes one coherent contract instead of negotiating with five platforms.
The result is a clean separation of concerns. Marketing authors content in the CMS. Commerce owns the transaction. Search owns discovery. Product data lives in the PIM. None of those systems is coupled to the others in a way that makes one team wait on another, which is precisely what the old monolith could not offer.
One Source of Truth for Product Content
Salsify was implemented as the centralized Product Information Management platform and the single source of truth for product content. For a catalog with hundreds of thousands of antibodies, each carrying target, clone, host, application, reactivity, and validation attributes, the integrity of that data is the product experience. Centralizing it in a PIM gives LSBio one place to govern attributes, enrich records, and syndicate consistent content to the storefront and to distributor channels, rather than maintaining product truth inside the website itself.
ERP Connected Through a Single Integration Layer
NetSuite remains the financial and fulfillment system of record, integrated through Workato as the central integration platform. Pricing, orders, customer synchronization, and fulfillment updates all flow through that layer, which means the storefront reflects ERP reality without point-to-point integrations accumulating between every pair of systems. Adding a channel or a system later becomes an integration task, not an architectural one.
Performance Engineered for Full Catalog Scale
Performance at 1.5 million SKUs is an engineering problem, not a tuning exercise. OneMagnify built for it deliberately with edge CDN caching, incremental static regeneration, proactive caching at the BFF layer, and variant-collapsed search indexes that keep result sets meaningful instead of flooding a researcher with near-duplicate records. The target was sub-second page loads at full catalog scale, and the architecture was designed backward from that requirement.
Privacy and Compliance by Design
Consent Mode v2 was implemented with region-aware opt-in and opt-out postures, with EEA traffic defaulting to opt-in, built to support GDPR and the emerging patchwork of US state privacy laws. For a business selling into academic and pharmaceutical institutions across multiple jurisdictions, compliance was treated as a design input at the start rather than a remediation project after launch.
The MVP also delivered US-based, English-language, USD-denominated commerce with credit card payments, tax-exempt purchasing for institutional buyers, SEO migration, analytics, and quick-order capabilities, supported by integrations including Cybersource, Avalara, GA4, GTM, Cloudflare, Vercel, AWS OpenSearch Service, and AWS S3.
Results
LSBio.com launched in four months with a search-led Hybrid DXP built for 1.5 million SKUs—replacing a legacy monolith with faster product discovery, governed product content, integrated commerce operations, and privacy controls built in from day one.
The new architecture gives LSBio a scalable foundation for B2B commerce, international expansion, personalization, advanced search, and new digital channels—turning future growth into configuration and delivery, not another rebuild.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
“OneMagnify's partnership during the data migration was critical in helping us achieve a successful and on-time launch of our refreshed lsbio.com. Through the project, we were able to address multiple business continuity risks and establish a foundation that will allow us to maintain and support the assets now and into the future. We would not have been able to hit the aggressive milestones for this project that we did without this successful data migration.”

Summary
LSBio’s move to a Hybrid DXP gave the business more than a modern storefront. It created a commerce foundation built around the realities of a life science reagent catalog: extraordinary breadth, deeply attributed products, institutional buyers, and researchers who need to find one specific antibody among hundreds of thousands. By separating content, commerce, discovery, product information, and ERP into specialized platforms behind a unified experience layer, OneMagnify replaced years of monolithic constraint with a system where each capability can evolve on its own timeline.
